What You Can Expect

The Mitchell Process, Step-by-step

Step 1: Listening to You

We are all on the same team. Our professional designers and builders work directly with you to develop buildable plans that address your specific needs and budget, and exceed your expectations both functionally and aesthetically.

We listen to your needs, review your likes and dislikes, discuss the scope of your project and describe how we would approach your project. After choosing to proceed with us, we enter into a “Design Agreement” to begin the first phase.

Step 2: Preliminary Design

We further define the scope, budget and timeframe. Zoning may need to be addressed to comply with local agencies. Conceptual sketches and floor plans are developed. Product selection will take place with your personal designer. The designer will bring selections to you or you may opt to shop together.

Step 3: Design Development

Many design selections such as flooring, wall colors, appliances and cabinetry are completed. Floor plans and elevations are further revised. Budget revisions are presented based on quotes from subcontractors and specific design selections. Work schedule is developed based on your desired timeframe. Design plans are presented for approval. Construction production schedule is created.

Step 4: Construction Documents and Specification

All design elements of the project are finalized and we develop all documents necessary for construction. At the completion stage of this phase you will be presented with final plans, final budget and a final work schedule.

Step 5: Pre-Build Preparations

You will have your own dedicated PM (Project Manager) who will oversee every detail of your project. The PM manages the construction, informs you of the construction process and addresses any questions or concerns you may have. We obtain all necessary building permits and move onto the build phase.

Step 6: Build Phase

You and your PM meet on a weekly basis to discuss progress and upcoming steps. The PM ensures the work area is kept clean and the home is secure during all construction. At the end of the project, the PM walks through the project area with you and addresses any questions you may have.

Step 7: Post-build Warranty and Support

Upon completion of your project, you will receive a warranty that ensures the quality of our work. What’s more your Mitchell Construction Group team will still be just a phone call away to address any questions, concerns or if you need additional work done.
