Before and After: Transforming an Outdated House Into a New England Paradise

RECREATING HOME PARADISE

After moving to Massachusetts from Hawaii, this family was looking to do a complete overhaul of their new home to replicate the paradise that they had once lived in. They hoped to take their outdated house and give it character and style that was custom designed to become the home of their dreams.

A full exterior remodel was done on the home, including new siding, trim, shutters, exterior lighting, a front porch, and a back deck. A massive amount of landscaping was completed, along with the two-story back deck and an outdoor kitchen, to make for the perfect entertaining space for this family. The exterior of this house was truly transformed into a home full of luxurious amenities so that this family could continue living in paradise for many years to come.

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

One of the most significant obstacles we encountered during the project was partnering with another company that handled all aspects of landscaping, including design and implementation. It was a novel challenge to work alongside them in order to design every detail and realize the shared vision.
We encountered another hurdle when it came to building the front porch. The presence of the septic system in front of the house made it a challenging task. To address this challenge, our solution was to build an alternative foundation for support. This enabled us to sidestep any disruption of the soil surrounding the septic system and guarantee its preservation.
While constructing a new covered front porch on the house, we came across space constraints between the peak of the porch roof and the second-story windows that posed an additional challenge. However, we devised an innovative solution using a clever design to overcome this—we built a flat roof above the new porch, ensuring that it provided coverage from the weather without obstructing any of the second-story windows.
